I'm a student at the DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, WA. I live quite literally across the street from MS (at least, the visitors center).
I'm a freshman in the RTIS (CompSci) program. It's tons of fun so far, along with a hefty dose of hard work.

Hi there, as for me, I am currently pursuing a computers degree with emphasis on networking at the ANNA university. The course work in itself is quite rigorous and what is more, the exams are coming up, so it is high time that I started cracking the books ,literally,

I did my 100-300 level Computer Science course work at a State University here in Pennsylvania. I studied some Math at UVSC. I am currently shopping schools to finish my Bacholers, I am leaning heavily towards Allegheny University in Meadville Pennsylvania. They have one of the best Art Programs I have been exposed to, and I have headhunted many schools. If they will take me! I will likely attend there next fall if Im not to busy with whatever contract work I get myself into. I was able to do 12 credits last semester, but it was not my best GPA semester to date, but I was commuting 1.5 hours to work 4 days a week in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and working 32 hours per week.
I have this fantasy that I will somehow find a nitch to make more money than I have desire to finish school. I believe there is much value in what I jokingly call "The School of Microsoft" to my friends. Which to me is the study of XNA, XSI, ASP.net, and several other Tutorials I engage in every day for 4-10 hours. I am building a portfolio that shows proficiency in Visual Studio Products. I think there is much value in that. I hope there is anyway!
I love the Microsoft product line though, it truly does reflect much labor, effort, and talent. My State University had an all Unix/Linux programming environment for the whole course, and I am frustrated by how much I owe to them and by having so little Microsoft exposure.

Nick Gravelyn:I'm studying general computer programming and web design/development. Pretty standard stuff for the wanna-be professional code monkey :). When I finish up (two years left), I plan to head out to Washington and try to get a job for either a small games company, Microsoft (in either their Xbox or XNA areas would be sweet), or start my own little game development studio.
It's strange to look at this thread seeing what I wrote before. I went from studying to an internship in Seattle. I still should finish up school eventually, but who knows when that'll be? I also think when I do go back, rather than getting a CS degree (since I know pretty much everything they'll teach me and possibly more) I might get one in psychology. I always wanted to be good at AI afterall. Now I just need to get that job at Microsoft and my plan will be complete ;).

I'm a senior in computer science at Purdue University, although it will take me a total of 5 years to graduate, so one more year left.
Currently I'm doing graphics research and hopefully will continue next semester.
Once I graduate I want to get a graphics/game programmer spot somewhere in the midwest.

I am a senior at Oral Roberts University(in Tulsa, OK...wow, am I the only person from the midwest US on these forums?), majoring in Computer Science. I have one year left though, as I changed my major from Engineering to Computer Science after my freshman year.
I'm planning on making an XNA game for my senior project, and am currently self-teaching myself C# while learning XNA.
After I graduate, I'd love to work in game programming for some company...unfortunately, I'm not keen on moving to California or Florida(California is crazy, Florida is too hot). My first choices for companies would be Nintendo or Microsoft, but as I've heard Nintendo doesn't do any programming outside of Japan, I'm hoping for Microsoft....other companies I'd like to work for are Ubisoft(if they have a studio in the US), Bioware, Valve, Square Enix(although I'm pretty sure they program only in Japan as well). Eventually though, I think it'd be cool to have my own gaming studio like many others have posted they want to do.

Hi! I study at Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain. While working, I'm finishing my Thesis project: Aran, an open source XNA-compliant automated planning system. The development was ended in february, after trying to present a simple game based on it to the Silicon Minds Dream Build Play Contest. Now I'm finishing the documentation. I think I'll defend it this month, and this will conclude my career, which is something like a 5-years Degree in Computer Science, specialized on Artificial Intelligence. Inmediately after that, I have plans to move to United Kingdom with my girlfriend. My dream is to work in the game industry... but it is just a dream.

Hi
I'm a Belgian student Bachelor of Graphic and Digital Media, main subject Multimedia Production at Artevelde Hogeschool, Mariakerke (Gent), Belgium. We don't learn much about creating games though, but Multimedia Production has similarities with game development. After these studies, I want to follow a game design course. I participated in an admission test for a school in The Netherlands, but don't know yet if I'm allowed. But I have an alternative in Belgium up my sleef if the worst case scenario would occur.
So I'm in my final year now. To finish this year, I have to make a thesis and you guys probably guessed it, the subject's XNA. Because of a difficult project I had to do, my time to work at my thesis has shrunk dramaticaly ... I'm going to try to make something good of it, but I know it won't be spectacular, all thanks to that one project. I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but unfortunatly, it isn't ... Wish it was just an excuse ... People who would like to help me (but I'm not forcing anyone and remember I have little time left to finish my thesis), I'm writing about XNA in general and am investigating whether XNA is suitable for developing serious games. Help is welcome for my research, because of my time problem. Oh, one little thing, it's written in Dutch. I could translate it to english, but that would only be possible after I'm graduated (again, time ... last time I mention it, I promise :D ).
I allready tried several times to sign in on this forum, but it allways bounced me off ... But hey, finaly I'm in. For some reason, fora and I don't interact well. Even at my school forum I'm having troubles which other people don't have.
I'm a Nintendo oriented guy, so a I don't have an Xbox 360. Yet. If the price drops or if the next generation consoles get born, I will buy me one because of the great exclusive titles. The longer I wait, the more titles I can pick up as Classics :) Another reason for buying me one is Perfect Dark Zero. I still think Perfect Dark (N64) is one of the best shooters ever made.
Looking forward to interact with you guys.

Hey everyone, I'm in First Year studying Computer Science with Games Development at the University of Hull.
The First Year is a more generic Comp.Sci year, with the games specialism coming in the second, third and (if you decide to stay on for a Master's degree) fourth year, although the Programming courseworks have had a game development option which I've obviously gone for.
We're using C# and XNA right now and it's quite easy so far to be honest, but I'm not complaining about it and I'm probably finding it easier because I've read around the subject far more than the year requires!
Right now we have to make an XNA version of Pong for our coursework, with extra marks included for things like sound via XACT and loading / saving from storage devices (which I have of course implemented :) ) - I'm a big Nintendo fan so I've given it a "Super Smash Bros" theme with playable characters as the bats and different Nintendo-themed scrolling levels, things like that. A bit insane, but oh well. The demonstration's going to be fun!
Next year and beyond we move on to stuff like C++ and OpenGL (both of which I'm familiar with - in the case of OpenGL just getting into it now) as well as DirectX I think, so I'll have a good grasp of all the basic concepts (I hope!). Apparently employment prospects are good for Hull graduates as well (it's one of EA's "partner Universities" for one thing, that's not bad going).
