    DX10.1 and SM4.1

    Hi,

Maybe asked before...but the first time here... so... i hope somebody has an
awnser... could not find any real DirectX newsgroup/forum

    1. I have the following installed
Vista SP1, DirectX March 2008 SDK, ATI RADEON HD3650

    2. Why does DxDiag report DirectX 10, instead of DirectX 10.1??

    3. Why does the DxCapsviewer report Vs/PS 3.0 instead of Vs/PS 4.1 (march 2008 sdk)

    4. Only the DDI version reported is 10.1

So  is this all 'By Design' or a bug...?

    Greetings

I am not sure why DXDiag reports DirectX 10. Maybe the factors it checks are not different between 10 and 10.1.

The CapsViewer is a DX9 application. Therefore it shows no Direct3D 10/10.1 features.

Right, the CapsViewer is DX9-only because to simplify life for programmers, the grand designers of DX10 has made ALL graphics cards expose the exact same set of capabilities which makes DXCapsViewer completely obsolete because every card is exactly the same!!!!

At least until 10.1 came out.

    :)
