    Just to confirm.

    - scissoring is made over the rendertarget and over its depthbuffer too.

    - the smaller the scissoring rectangle, the less work for the GPU.

    It depends.... if the scissoring reduces the amount of pixels drawn and you have heavy pixel shaders then yes less work. If you are vertex shader heavy then maybe not since the scissoring will be tested after the vertex transformations.

    Ok... but i assume the only part where the depthbuffer is written is the scissored rectangle isn't it?

    That's correct. Scissoring is like viewport clipping, except it doesn't change the viewport transform.
