    Networking over a VPN

Is there a way to change the default network adapter that Windows Live uses to connect to system link games?
I tried to run a network program over Hamachi, but I can't seem to get it to work right.

The program works over my router (192.168 subnet) but even after making Hamachi the default network adapter for windows, whenever I run an XNA program, it always sets to the network adapter for my router.  The only way for me to get it to set to Hamachi is by disabling the network adapter for my router and then, after the program starts, re-enable it (so I have an internet connection).

When I do it this way, both computers (on the Hamachi subnet) can see the Network Session, but when one tries to join, it crashes the program.  (It works fine if I am using computers on my router's subnet) I can't remember the error I got, but I can post it up when I get a chance to.

You probably won't get much support here since you are trying to workaround the LIVE networking feature. You might ask over at GameDev or the Hamachi site, but I highly doubt you'll find any response from a Microsoft employee on how to do this.

As for me personally, I don't know either. Sorry.

So then, is it when the Guide starts up, it tries to default to a local network instead of a VPN?

I wouldn't say he's really trying to work around anything, having two network adapters, both with valid IP addresses isn't an uncommon situation, and ensuring that G4WL uses the right network adapter is rather useful. I too have tried using Hamachi though, and followed the article on the Microsoft website on how to prioritise one adapter over another (changing it's priority) but it had no effect, contrary to what the Microsoft website said.

Unfortunately though, I too had the same problem, and the only workaround was to disable the adapter I didn't want, start the game, then reenable, but it never actually worked properly.

Ohh ok, so it looks like it's not a problem on my side, but how G4WL works normally.  I was wondering if I was the only one having that problem.  It's not really that big of a deal though I guess.  I have two other computers and an xbox that I can use to test out my networking code with on a physical network, so I guess I can just work with that.
