question about octree and bsp tree

what's the difference of these two?
which is better for  a scene rendering.

I got 2 examples from ziggyware links.
    A octree demo     http://fabio.policarpo.nom.br/
     I get only 15fps
    and a bsp demo   http://www.theomader.com/public/Portfolio.html
    This I get 38fps

And I have imported my own 3ds max scene into both of them.
    They both work well.
The bsp demo is a bit more complicate to understand.

which shoud I use for my own engine?

BSP trees allow more assumptions to be made that cut down on the number of calculations needed to determine collision, so although it is more complicated and requires more construction time, it is faster (hence your benchmark results).
