Hmm, I may have to get a Zune now just to develop for it....maybe that's Microsofts nefarious plan!  :)

It's quite fun actually. I would suggest it, but only if you are going to use it for media playing also.

If you do, get the Zune80. It's the best MP3 player I've ever owned (and yes, I've owned two iPod's).

I also agree. And I'm a Mac guy. I program on a MacBook Pro and used to solely use an iPod. Now my 8GB Zune is all I need. I don't think you need 80GB for an MP3 player, but that's just me. 8GB is enough variety for a trip to work and back at which point I can just put different stuff on it for the next day.

Haha - I disagree and I'm a Windows guy :)  For me the touch is just the best tech thing ever (well until the 3G iPhone that is).  I did exactly what Lostlogic is thinking of doing though - got a Zune simply to code XNA on for it.  The bigger screen on the 80 sold it to me (I may have to put some films on there though just to fill it up a it - 80 gig is a fair bit of storage for a couple of XNA projects)

Just to kill this before it starts.... lets not get into who has the best MP3 player eh? There is quite enough fanboy-ism in the xbox and zune forums without it spilling over in here and I really don't want to spend my days deleting posts that look like they were written by immature 10 year old kids. You all know the ones I mean ;-)

There are lots of MP3 players - everyone has their likes and dislikes but if you are in these forums its becuase you want to code in XNA and there is only one player that works on.

I'm currently making a modified version of Rock Rain which makes it more easy to use and fun. Do you think I would be allowed to release it here?

You can definitely link to it here, but there is no way to upload to these forums so you'll have to host the file elsewhere.

Re: So, does anyone have any finished zune games?

    Jalf [MVP]:

We have another one. I just port a sample game from my book to Zune :)

Check in http://www.sharpgames.net/Noticias/Rock+Rain+Zune.xna . Sorry folks, it´s a brazilian XNA Portal, but find the 'download' link ok ? :) The code and source comments are in english, of course.

I run it in a "old" Zune, without toutchpad..someone can please test it in a "new" Zune model and give some feedback?

    Enjoy,

    José.

This is an excellent port, very smooth and good response time. Crisp, clear graphics. Well done!

Just about finished my Rock Rain mod. It's a biggie! over 200 megs! Pretty fun though. I tweaked it just right. I'll release it here soon.

Alright! Rock Rain SD is DONE! Here's some of the differences between this version and the original:

    - Better controls

    - Different graphics

    - 16 different songs that you can cycle between while playing

    - Lives system instead of power

    - Performance enhancements

    - And more!

I think this is a nice taste of a better quality game for the Zune. The 16 songs keep it fresh each time you play. Remember, this game is quite large, coming in at 260mb, so be ready for that.Click here to download it!

I have my second game almost done (the only thing left is the music browser and sound effects). You can download Scrambled Albums from my blog: http://nick.gravelyn.com/2008/05/14/scrambled-albums-zune-game-beta/.

    Re: Alien Aggressors: Zune Edition

Greenskull and I are currently working on another version (we're calling it v. 3) of rock rain sd.  It's a much smaller download than 260mb, as we removed the 16 songs and went with music on the user's harddrive.  He is also adding some powerups and I'm working on a high scores system (which is actually giving me a challenge) and we should have it out in a few days.

I'll be sure to give a shout out when it's done
    Zero Industries....site coming...eventually...
