    Utility For Renaming An Animation Assigned To An X File.

    Are there any tool’s in the DirectX 9 / 10  SDK that will enable you to open an .X file with an animation assigned to it, to rename the name of the animation ?.  The MeshViewer.exe cannot do this !, ( You cannot rename animation’s for .X file’s, but only add animation’s to an existing .X file ) as of DirectX 9.0c.

    My .max to .x file translator only output’s one animation name.  I need to rename the name of the animation assigned to the .X file to a more suitable name like “Run”, “Attack”, “Die”,  for my Game Engine.  Every single .X file export has the same animation name “AnimationSet0”,  this will not work in the Game Engine.

    Can any one recommend any other software that can open .X file’s with animation’s to rename the animation  assigned to the .X file ? .

    Sincerely;

    Option 1: Use kW X-port, which allows you to slice the timeline into a number of subsections, each with a different name, exported as a separate name.

    Option 2: Export to text-mode .X, and open the .X file in an editor that can handle large files (like Notepad++, or even Visual Studio) and search/replace your animation name.
