How to use your real name in the forums

    How to use your real name in the forums

    For those of you who want your posts to show up using some other name to your gamertag...
    • Go to your user control panel (by clicking your gamertag in the top right corner of the site)
    • Fill in your name in the About tab
    • Under Site Options, select "Enable DisplayName"
    Your gamertag will still show up inside your gamercard, but now your real name will be visible above it.

    I'm going to kick myself...

    But where the heck do you find that in your profile page?  I only found two links, neither of those having those options...

    That's because that post is over two years old and the site has been redesigned. You now use your creator name you chose when you signed up. If you set that to your real name, you get to use your real name. If you didn't use your real name, then you get to use whatever you did put in.

    So there is no way to change this name?

    I can't use this name as that company is no longer a part of this world.
    Is it possible to unregister from the Creators Club and then register again with a new name?
    At least I must be able to unregister from this community.

    There is no way you can change it yourself. You can try emailing creators@microsoft.com under some circumstances they will change it

    I just asked them to change mine and they did it. I don't see why they wouldn't for others too, unless they've changed their policies in the past 6 months.

    Yes I know they are accomodating at the moment but I dont want to imply its policy in case they change their minds in the future and someone quotes me on it :-)

    I think they might be more willing to change your username if you were more active in the forums (ie, more than a few posts). Or at least, I would think that way if I were an admin.

    Nothing to do with activity.

    If its been a week then try again, maybe a spam filter got it.

    No wonder I could not find this, turns out as pointed out above. Site has been redesigned.

    It sounds like they will change the name, but it is a hit and miss.
