    Help wanted (2D-Game)

    Hello,

This is my first project as a game programmer so help is needed =)

The whole idea of the game is a Super Smash Bros. like game. First it was intended as a classical fighting game but we wanted to make it more intreseting. I would like to have some tutorials about how to animate, collision, healthbar and how to make the sprites turn around. If possible some help with AI bots. If you can think of something else that I havent mentioned please post as answer and explain what and how I can make it.

This is also a school project so I would like the links/answers as fast as possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Start smaller... if you need help with all of those things then you need to start at the beginning. I would suggest you get any of the current XNA books as they show almost all of what you want. Also look at the 2d tutorials on this site - they also cover everything you need.

    Re: Help wanted (2D-Game)

I am working on my first game as of a week ago or so, and for my first project I am working on a really nice 2D roguelike haunted house game.  Very simple grid interface.

I expect it will take me about a year or so to finish working 3 or 4 hours a day on it due to the amount of content I will need to create and the fact that I haven't ever made a game before.

I don't think that you will be meeting your deadline for a school project unless you are some sort of uber genius or your class ends in 2011!

If you really do want to make a SSB style game tho get to work on collision detection and whatnot first.  Make SSB with big cube men and figure out hitboxes and all that jazz first.  Just some advice from another noob.
