    Installing XNA.

    Hi,

i'am a young programmer and just started about 4 months agao. I'am started to learn XNA but when i download and try and install, it said i need SP1 of C# 2005. I clicked on it but it just brought me to the site where i downloaded C# 2005 from. Can anybody tell me where i can download what i'am missing out ?

The SpaceWar sample that comes with XNA Studio is helpful. For a more step-by-step approach, try the 2D Beginners' Guide on the Getting Started page.

    it says i need these:

Vertex Shader Model 1.1 Pixel Shader Model 2.0

It's likely that your graphics card doesn't support the proper shader models. That game requires SM 1.1 for the vertex shader and 2.0 for the pixel shader. Most cards made in the last few years support those, but if you have an older card or integrated graphics, it's possible your hardware doesn't support it. The only solution to the problem is to upgrade hardware, I'm afraid.

Which graphics card do you have? You can find this by going to the Device Manager in Windows. In Vista you get there by right clicking on the Computer and going to Properties. Then Device Manager is an option on the left. I'm not sure the path for XP (since I don't have it and never used it) but you can likely get there through a similar process or the Control Panel. Once in there expand the Display Adapters node and see what it says.

Also keep in mind that many towers do come with integrated graphics; it's not something unique to laptops.

From a quick internet search it seems that should work just fine. Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from NVidia?
