Howdy,

I'm running Windows XP SP2

Well, I've been looking to get started with XNA 3.0, so I went to try to install Visual Studio Express 9.0 (2008). But in the middle of the installation, I get this error:

I tried to turn off DEP, but after I applied the new setting and restarted my system DEP automatically changed the setting back to the top option.

I also tried to turn it off from the Boot.ini file using this:

/noexecute=OptOut

But no luck there either. All I want to do is install Visual Studio Express 9.0 (2008). Does anyone what's going on here or can offer any help?

Well I just turned OFF Windows Firewall, McAfee Firewall, McAfee SpamKiller, and McAfee VirusScan. However, when I turned these all off, my control panel still says that VirusScan is still on.

Still doesn't work. I just get the same error from DEP.

Can you please try the steps listed in this blog post to temporarily disable DEP on your system and see if that helps at all?

I tried the steps in the blog post. It made no difference.

I'll go ahead and check out the installation forums.
