    Problem using textured models

    Hey community members,
i ve a great issue with my exported FBX files from 3dsmax. All my models are rendered without textures, just with a white / grey material.
I ve analysed the content dom created by the FBXImporter - the content dom consists of different meshcomponents, with all geometrycomponents.material set to null.
Despairingly i ve tried to load a model from a sample project published by the xna creator club homepage. This model is rendered perfectly and I don t know. why.

Any suggestions? I'm grateful for every hint!

    Thank you
    Ilyas

I solved the problem. It seems to be a very essential step to bake the models before exporting them to FBX. I don't know why but it worked for me.

    hi,

what you realy mean by bake the model before exporting them to FBX. did you mean by baking the animation with the model when exporting to FBX format.

    cheers.

    Re: Problem using textured models

I mean the Render to Texture functionality available in 3dsmax. Using this your are able to brand all light / shadow effects on a texture on after that max will apply the generated texture to the model.
It seems that max is branding the name of the texture into the max file. If you export your fbx file into same folder like your texture files xna is able to find these textures and applies them to your model.

    Bye
