Take a guess - how many copies have you sold?

Just for fun, how many copies of your game do you think you have sold?

I guess that that my game Ladybird Galaxy has sold around 50 copies (and I'm quite happy if that's the case).

Ha I'm hoping for triple digits, but I'd be happy just paying for my subscription.

I hope too, but something suggests me that we're talking about few dozen/week even for the top selling ones.

    So I say... a dozen copies/week.

(please someone tells me I'm wrong... please...) :D

    edit:

I know there are difficullties in giving us individual selling reports, but, can someone give us a cumulative idea about downloads and selling? For istance: in the first two weeks all the CG sold xxx copies and xxx demo copies were downloaded.
Just to have an overall idea of what is happening.

Well Biology Battle, which is an 800 points game that's right down the "Popularity" lists, has sold at least 420 ish copies, as of last Saturday. That's going off it's global leaderboard function, so only gold live members. And *I think* the Live matchmaking automatically discards anyone whose ping is too high... so it's possible there are other players out there.

Actually I've just realised - can you still enter the global challenge mode if you're on a trial?

Assuming that's sales not trials, that's around 200 a week, for a game that's not done very well on the popularity charts.
Big assumption there, I'm just trying to inject some optimism, since everyone is treating No Sales Figures as No Sales.

I'm sure Bloc has sold over 9000 copies. ;-)

Using guesswork and looking at VGChartz and the Xbox Live Marketplace popularity lists and being optimistic I would have guessed that my game Organon was selling 30-40 a week, however since Monday it has been on the last page(rather than two pages ahead) on the Xbox Live Marketplace list, so zero sales per week.

I think people are going to the 'Contest Finalist' heading a lot.
Are we allowed these kind of chit-chat threads.

I dont get it. This forum is up and people making games for a long time now. Why is it such a big secret for Microsoft just to provide some information about sales?

    1. Becuase forums != accounting systems
    2. Becuase you need to search the forums and find the answer...

I'm gonna guess that Revenge of the Ball has sold around 84 copies since it was launched.
Either that or 24,323 copies since launch.

Im hoping for the latter but fear it's the former.

Well I need to sell at least 600 copies just to recoop development costs... so I'm hoping I end up doing better than some of these estimates so far.

Though I made a game (well, not done yet) so even if I don't, I'm not going to be too heartbroken.

If you had to pin me down, my guess is somewhere between 0 and 10 million copies.

My guess, based on absolutely nothing, is that Drift has sold 200-300 copies. I'll have a much better guess on April 1st, when we have, you know, actual sales information available.

Re: Take a guess - how many copies have you sold?

This kind of thread has a tendency to extract humourful replies as a result of peoples' shyness for self-promotion. However, I think that Community Games sales will surprise alot of people; I fully expect Weapon of Choice, In the Pit, Biology Battle (and hopefully Artoon!) to top 15,000 sales. Obviously this is the top-end of games in terms of popularity and the drop-off will be pretty steep, but everyone should get some nice beer money at the least (and the seriously fuzzy feeling from knowing strangers across the world played your game).

EDIT: On a side note, It's very nice to see Chrome finally being supported properly on this forum!

I think much more, much much more. Some top selling games could reach 50000 copies easily, not sure the others...

While I greatly appreciate your optimism, my completely-baseless guess for In the Pit has one less digit than your estimates. :)

I'm very sad that the "finally getting some numbers" feature has been pushed back from the beginning of March to the end of March  -- particularly because I was putting of talking to my accountant about last year's taxes until I had those numbers so we could decide if I should do anything special for this year's taxes -- but I guess since we've waited this long we can certainly wait a little longer.

I don't remember seeing anything official other than "by March." I haven't seen any official statements about beginning, middle or end of March.

Congratulations... another prize winner in the 'lets take a reasonable thread and us it to whine about the lack of nubmers and/or the date of those numbers'. Your prize as with those before you is to get someone elses thread locked...

BTW, the correct answere to how many copies have you sold is, of course, 42.
