You can use Pandasoft's DX8 exporter for 3dmax. But I have noticed some problems with exporting animations.

You can also use kW X-port for 3ds Max. Note that the X importer for XNA adds padding frames to animations shorter than 1 second on import.

I highly recommend this one, since it is the best .X exporter I have ever worked with. And Jon is continually improving it with each release.
