Torque X for XNA 3.0 released? When will there be a new free download for XNA premium members?

The Torque X website is now referring to visual studio 2008 and XNA 3.0 on the screen where you purchase Torque X 2D. This is the link to the page I am referring to http://www.garagegames.com/products/torquex-2d.  Here are my questions:
    1. Will there be an update on this site to allow download of the new Torque X 2D for premium members that is compatible with XNA 3.0 for free? If so around what time will it come out?
    2. Is the Torque X 3D Builder for game studio 3.0 planned to be included in these free packages for premium members?
    3. Are there any differences between the free Torque X tools for premium members and the ones that you purchase?  How are the licenses different?

Thank you all for your time.  I am new to the XNA community and am trying to make the best possible decisions to get my game projects on XNA 3.0.

I don't know anything about the Torque X Engines but you might find a better response on garagegames forums.

I do ask questions there that are about Torque X featues, but my questions on this post are referring to this website releasing an updated version of Torque X that comes with my XNA creators club membership.  That is why I am asking it here. :-). Thanks.

This site doesn't release it though, Garage Games does, so no one here is going to be able to answer that question. Only the developers at Garage Games can tell you if they will be releasing an updated version.

From what I've heard about them recently, their focus is elsewhere and TorqueX is no longer a priority, but you can only confirm that by getting an answer from them at their forums.

Oh ok. I thought that since they were partners that they communicated together to release special version's of Torque X for Community Club members.  I guess the XNA creators club just sits back and waits to hear from torque and has no idea if they will be releasing special content geared to XNA premium members. That is quite odd if that is the case.  :-)

I'm sure that there are complex contracts between GG and MS over this since GG is potentially losing out on paid licenses. Since we have no idea of those negotiations its hard to know.

I've dropped the XNA team a note with this thread so eventually they might give us a repy if there is anything to report.

Thank you ZMan.  The reason I want to know is because if it not coming out, I will purchase the 2d and 3d builder. I would hate to not purchase it thinking it is coming out if it never will.  It would, however, be silly or me to spend 150 dollars and 250 dollars if I am going to get it as a part of my permium membership.  Thanks again!

Here is the answer to my questions that was posted on the torque website from a member.

"The website is kindof incorrect. The release has not happened yet, but it really is any day now. Microsoft has Torque X 3.0 and is reviewing it before releasing to Creator's Club. They will be releasing the free binary (non-source code version) of Torque X 2D and 3D. Torque X 3.0 works with XNA 3.0 and VisualStudio 2008.

Okay, they've been reviewing for two months now. Is this just on the back burner for Microsoft or something? I've been waiting for TX3D for a long time.

Does anyone out there have any more insight on this?

Is it even defined what our Creators Club memberships will entitle us to (IE TX2D only or 2D and 3D...source included or binary only)?

    Thanks

Nothing to announce... Microsoft and GG will announce wheen they have something.

No there are no claims about what premium members are entitled to other than the rights to deploy to xbox and submit reviews games. Everything else is considered a bonus.

Re: Torque X for XNA 3.0 released?

I just came across this post - wasn't sure if it's better to reply here or start a new thread...

Has there been any news on this? It's been many months since this was apparently passed to MS. Is it possible it's been ditched, or should we keep waiting? Iwas quite eager to use TorqueX, and now I've got a CC membership, I find the only one we have doesn't work with XNA3 and nobody seems to know what stage the new version is at.

The GG forums suggest the ball is in MS's court, but since their own website lists TX3D as Pre-Order, I'm wondering whether they've actually finished it at all....

I've pinged the Microsoft guys regularly and other than 'be patient' I have heard nothing. I even tried to get them to post in here but nothing... yeah it sucks.. I've pinged them again...

I was at the GarageGames website today, and TorqueX 3D has moved from "Pre Order" to "Buy Now" is there any word yet as to whether we're getting this with our premium memberships?

I'm surprised that we haven't seen more on this topic in these forums.

TorqueX 3D should be available in the Partner Section to all premium creators club members in about two weeks.

I just hope it's really ready when they do, if you look at the bugs on the Garage Games site, not many, but one big one: - 3D games on Xbox360 may crash.

Will that also include the 2D version of TorqueX updated to XNA GS 3.0?

I would certainly hope so, even though I have the source license, it should be part of the deal.

Any updates on this subject? The deadline for the project I'm working on is coming up soon, so this is making me a little nervous.

I hope your not thinking that you will learn to use it from scratch, then implement your game before your upcoming deadline. If you are, I suggest you grab the 30 day demo from GG's website and start working with that until the full version is released here.

That would be rather irresponsible on our part. Thankfully we're not :)
The project I'm on has been using TorqueX 2.0 since October 2008 so we've got a rather good idea of how it works. And how buggy the thing can be.

We're releasing our game in June. Getting proper access to TorqueX 3.0 so we can update the project soon to the new version before then is what's making me nervous. We won't have any opportunities to continue working on it afterwards and the 30 days demo is going to run out mere days before the deadline.

Since things can be a little messy with GarageGames, I just want to echo Nick Gravelyn's question.

Re: Torque X for XNA 3.0 released?

Hey everyone!  Sorry it's taken so long to get an answer on this.  Creator's Club members will still recieve a binary version of both Torque X 2D and Torque X 3D with their subscription.  For information about what's changed in our 3.0 version and what's new, I recommend checking out John Kanalakis' post on GarageGames.com here:  http://www.garagegames.com/community/blogs/view/17189.  There's also a new video tutorial series for Torque X that we're adding to frequently and which I'll be introducing to the Torque and XNA community soon.  You can see a few of these online now:

Good luck with you projects!  If you have any trouble with Torque X, please report any issues in the Torque X forums.
