Some introduction/skillset first I guess. I am a developer from the Netherlands, 25 years old. Got a master degree in Computer Graphics and I am full time employed. I am also a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer in both windows and web development, mainly programming in C#. I am also a modeler. You can check out my site: http://www.tangrin.com for some more background information. A bit of a jack of all trader I guess.
If you are still reading at this point and have a good feeling about this, let me introduce what we are working on. Another programmer, an artist and I are working on a pure 2-player cooperative game. The idea is that the 2 player with completely different characters with different skills have to fight/puzzle their way by cooperating through levels that can best be described as a platform/beat em up environment. I am not going to give away too much here, but the centre of the entire game is that it will be a very intense coop experience where you have to rely on eachother every step of the game. We are aiming to release on Xbox Live Arcade(if Microsoft lets us ;)) in about 8 months-1 year. What we have so far:
- Xml-based GUI system (supporting buttons, texts, progress bars, labels, and integration with the event-based input system) - 3D Particle System (supporting various shapes as emitters, forces, optimized implementation). - Extended Collision library (OBB and triangle support, fast implementation) - Integrated Sound (nothing special here, microsoft has made it easy :)) - 3D Bezier Curve Implementation ( Might not sound important, but a big portion of the game is built around it :) ) - Integrated level editor in 3D studio max ( The other programmers is working on this ) - Flexible Shader system - Extended Font Support (Paragraphs, more flexibility, optimized batch rendering) - Event Based Input System - Skinned Animations ( Work in progress ) - Render Engine ( Work in progress ), some features:
- shadow mapping based shadows
- hdr lighting
- normal mapped
- GI solution from max
- flexible, pass-based rendersystem
We have started on this about 2 months ago, including the design phase, coming up with ideas. We have quite an interesting story, and a draft design document. But there is offcourse still lots and lots to do :). We are looking for some more people to join our team, but not anyone in any specific role. Programmers, Modelers, Sound, Texturers, Animators, we can use them all. We do need people who can dedicate some time and are at the same level of experience. If this sound like you, just drop me a line at vlegerstee....gmail....com if you are interested.
Some asset shots, all are still work in progress:
