    Point discrepency

I'd been wondering when someone would notice that you pay 0.0125 per point but MS pays you back 0.0121 as a developer. See http://forums.xna.com/forums/p/28044/157481.aspx#157481

So where does that 3% mark down go?

I've not seen any explanation but my guess is that its there so the retailers who sell the cards can make a profit. Its a fixed discount that everyone can work into their accountancy whereas things like returns, fraud and other things can be taken out of Microsofts profit.

Well, the actual USD price paid per point varies based on region and current exchange rate, right? So I don't think it's as much a mark down as a pre-negotiated price. It's possible that someone somewhere paid less than 0.0125 USD per point, but it doesn't matter because our contracts specify a rate. I presume any loss or gain due to fluctuations in the market or differences in income / expenses is simply reflected on our distributor's balance sheets.
