I'm happy to say I've wrapped up my DBP build of Dust: An Elysian Tail :)  7 months ago I knew close to nothing about programming, and it's a great feeling to have hit this milestone!  I will be submitting tomorrow.

The game is coded (just need to convert from 3.0 to 3.1), need to write my description/synops stuff...

Spent several hours creating a trailer (my first foray into video editing)... couldn't get the video to work on the 1280x720 version for some reason, but here is a lower-res version that works:

Good luck, I don't believe you knew almost nothing about programming though :P amazing job.
I'm just not confident about my submission now. Not enough time to get much more done and I'm just not happy with the submission.
I've yet to make a video and write my synopsis so that's gonna eat a chunk of time. I've only been working on it for 18months or so :D I'm catching Duke Nukem Forever up

Finally smuggled my anti-game, The Fourth Wall, through the submission process.  Not a hope of winning but it has been fun putting my Adventure Game Engine through its paces.

I finished up my video last night, and just have the description writeup left to do before uploading everything tonight.

I wish I had gotten my friends to try my entry sooner because I'm now starting to realize most of my levels are of developer-level difficulty where I may be the only one who can beat them since I know my own game too well! Rushingly trying to figure out ways to dampen this issue!

Re: Where are you at on this years DBP 2009 competition?

I've had a relatively stress-free couple months, as my focus has been on polishing the entry I had submitted to PAX10 back in early May. (I didn't make it. Sad face.)

Still, I'm stayin' up late tonight. I have two more things I want to complete, and then I have to cut together a quick trailer to show it off...

Good luck to everyone in Dream Build Play. I've seen some amazing entries on here. When my trailer is complete, I'll add it to the list. = D

Re: Where are you at on this years DBP 2009 competition?

My PC dying last month made sure there was no way my main game was going to get finished, so I switched to my backup project.  I ran into some late problems which really had me struggling for time, so I went with Plan C.  I know I'm not going to win but getting the CC code means I'm even more motivated to finish my other Indie Games projects :)

Due to spending most of the summer in Tanzania, I only started my DBP entry 12 days ago! Despite the craziness of such a short deadline, everything is slowly coming together to form what I hope will be a competitive entry.

No time currently to sift through the currently submitted entries, but a quick glance shows that everyone has exceeded themselves in comparison to previous years! Looking forward to the awesome games! :)

Yeah, I am seeing some impressive-looking submissions on the gallery page now. I hope a lot of those submissions end up on the Indie Games channel... this could be the beginning of a nice turnaround in the channel's reputation :)

Re: Where are you at on this years DBP 2009 competition?

When the first games popped up at the gallery I was quite satisfied with the quality of my game and I thought: "Wow, if this ends up the way it started I really have a chance to be placed in the top 10"... but now... WOW! So many games, and so many of great quality. Thats so cool! If they all enter XBox Live, how will the player keep track of all those games? :)

Every day new entrys popped up my motivation dropped a bit down *lol* I saw better games than mine every day :) But thats cool! It just made me think why I should go on :) But I finished my submission yesterday and nonetheless I am proud of my first XBox 360 game :)

The game is called GemChase. I tried to make it as fun as possible. The mose amusing thing is the game narrating hero I guess...

Here is the trailer I put together in the last hours of the contest (yeah, I belong to the group of people that screw on the game until the last day) :)

I wish everyone who entered good luck! There are so many great games that I can't tell who my favourite is :)

Re: Where are you at on this years DBP 2009 competition?

I finally finished (11pm) my submission. It's nowhere near as good as other games out there. I also had to cut more than 1/2 the game to make the deadline! More maps, levels, powerups, multiplayer, coop and editor - all had to go!

Here is a vid for anyone who cares: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciPLMPAO6Fc
