    Windows 7

    Hello all,

Please feel free to move this post somewhere more appropriate if it does not belong here. I was just trying my dual boot into Windows 7 to see if the XNA site/forums were working under IE 8 since I installed the RC. I must say I am quite impressed with Win 7 so far and am looking forward to installing VS 2008 and XNA.

Anyone else using the RC yet? Any issues? I had one issue with my first installation where Win 7 only booted one time. It then went to a BSOD upon trying to launch it subsequently. I am running Vista Business x64 as my main install, and installed Win 7 as a dual boot on a 1 TB RAID drive setup. After the initial failure to install Win 7, I redid the installation and all seems to be working fine to this point.

The only downside is that my college website still has some issues with using IE 8 (Blackboard site, if anyone knows what that is). Hopefully it will be rectified sooner rather than later.

Blech @ Blackboard. I remember how much of a PITA that was when I was in college.

I'm running Win7 x64 at home right now, and I've had no issues so far. If you're having trouble with IE8, remember that you can choose to run a website under Compatibility mode. There should be a broken page icon to the right of your address bar; click that, and from then on, whenever you load that website, it should display it as though you were running IE7.

I installed RC1 on my old PC, and I liked it as well.  Unfortunately ATI doesn't have a Win7 driver for the GPU in that maching (X1950 Pro), so I never even bothered to install XNA GS.  I know people had it working in the beta, though.

Not sure where you were looking, but ATi has had a driver out for the x1950 for Win7 32 & 64 for at least several days now. I installed win 7 rc on the 5th... and the driver was already on ati's website. First thing I did was install Visual studio and xna, and the default driver that 7 installed for my x1950 pro even worked like a charm..

The taskbar is going to take some getting used to, and Im just going to dual boot Win 7 for a while.. since I put it on my dev machine.. lol.. that reminds me.. i need to remember to back up my projects folder..

Anyways, win 7 had and/or found drivers for every piece of hardware I have, even the hp printer and installed it all without issues. I did grab the latest ATI Catalyst 9.4 off ati's website for the x1950, since I need all the performance I can get out of my old rig.

That link is for the win 7 download for 32 & 64 bit versions.

The graphics drivers page on support.amd.com only has drivers listed down to the Radeon 2400 for Win7.

Interesting, because on game.amd.com they have them for win 7 32 & 64.  Same release notes, but the driver recognized the card, and installed it just fine.
