Is there an update to Softimage.XWImporter coming?

I get this error now after updating to Game Studio 3.1, preventing the use of the XSI content pipeline. Unable to build content with it at all now.

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\XNA Game Studio\v3.1\Microsoft.Xna.GameStudio.ContentPipeline.targets(90,5): error : Assembly Softimage.XWImporter was built with a reference to Microsoft.Xna.Framework with an incorrect version 3.0.0.0 when version 3.1.0.0 was expected.

I'm guessing someone at Autodesk needs to regenerate the assembly since the source for this isn't in the XNAGSE package. Anyone happen to know if this is forthcoming?

    Thanks

    hi,

you just have to remove the references and then add them again.
when you add them, you can probably choose (e.g. for Microsoft.Xna.Framework) between a version for 3.0 and one for 3.1.
use 3.1 and it should work.

    regards, gooni.

Hi Gooni, thanks for your response. Unfortunately the assembly XWImporter is part of the XNAGSE package that Autodesk has built; I was unable to find source code for it and I'm pretty sure this is an assembly that Autodesk will need to update. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place? Not sure. Note that I did change all my project references to the XNA 3.1 assemblies; this is one of the other assemblies that are referenced and I don't think there is anything I can do to fix this because Autodesk has not yet provided a 3.1 version of it.
    Thanks for any help,

You can not mix the assemblies, at the moment you have to use the XNA 3.0 files untill another release of the tools.

What would someone do in the event that they used this to build their content for their game and want to submit to dbp?
Dbp requirements state that you must use 3.1 which is not possible using this method.

    Hello there!

Had you received any news on the subject Aztec? I'm in the same situation... I want to participate in the dreambuildplay.com event, but I use .xsi content and we must submit in 3.1 version, right?

    Thank you for your attention!

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything on this issue.
My solution since there is only a few weeks left was to just go ahead and make make my animated models in blender. It is difficult because the interface is just terrible compared to xsi, but the animated models work perfectly with xna.

I am however still creating all static models inside xsi as the .fbx exporter seems to work just fine for non animated models.

So I guess for now, you have to just switch back and forth.

    I see... Tough luck...

I guess i have to use FBX format and adapt the content.

Thank you anyway for the information!

Softimage has a good SDK and you can use C# to get access to their Object Model allowing you to write your own exporter.  I am going that route because I really like Softimage, but I don't trust an addon utility for my exports because of this very reason.  I saw how long it took the last update to come out, so I wouldn't count on it soon.  Being able to all this in C# is an even bigger bonus over other DCC.

Any luck creating your own exporter? I'm currently using XNA 3.0 so that I can use the XSI importer, but I want to use the features in 3.1.
