Hi,
I got artists for my game, got a friend to do the music and will code it myself. But what I'm still lacking are sound effects.
Does anyone have one or more links to sites where you can download free audio effects (for an rpg, I need just a few)?

I mean effects that are truly free to use and not copyrighted (many "free" audio effects sites only let you download effects that are actually copyrighted, like excerpts from movies or TV shows).

I'll second SoundSnap.com.

The free site only lets you download 5 songs a month, but depending on how long your development cycle is, you might not need anymore than that (I didn't).

You can purchase a premium membership too... not sure on the price, but I don't think it's that much, probably cheaper than paying to have your sound effects done by someone. You still may want to have someone else do them though if you have something really specific you cannot find on SoundSnap.com though.

Simple things like roars and spoken works, robot sounds, etc can be made with a simple audio editor and a microphone too.. for instance my game has a ZAP sound effect that is just me making a zap sound and then adding a bunch of effects to it so that it sounds like you would expect a zap to sound like.

I got some from FreeSound.org.

There are no restrictions on the number you can download and they are usable for commercial use.
