xWMA on Windows and Xbox360, both software-decode?

    Hello,

xWMA can be played via XAudio2 on Windows machines and the XBOX360.

XMA can only be played on XBOX360, but it will use hardware decompression.

My question is, does the XBOX360 detect the xWMA format and also use hardware decompression? (Since it is a better compressed XMA just with a newly format header/wrapper, it should be possible to get detected?) Right now the SDK just points out both platforms are doing an software decode.

    Thank you very much.

    Regards,

My understanding is that while XMA and xWMA are similar in some ways, xWMA is not similar enough to benefit from the southbridge's XMA decoder.
