New Site Released to Organize and Review Indie Games
|
Okay, first i'll say that im not quite sure where I should be posting this but ill put it here and maybe the nice people at XNA can redirect me.
I have created a site: www.communitycast360.com that is dedicated to the reviewing and organization of XNA Indie games. So far I've just been testing the site by posting single reviews and playing around with what I can do with the site. This could become very successful but I need the help of the game creators here. First, if you would like your game reviewed you can either post on this thread or you can hit me up at jonesy@communitycast360.com or if you would like to schedule an interview you can also use the above address. I know Indie game developers have struggled to have their game stand out from all the other crap that keeps being released so let's come together to make this an organized and a great site! This is for the community!!!

"We're on your dashboard"
You might want to hold of advertising your site till its a bit more filled out... i looked and thought 'one review' and thats it I'm done... you offer no features like xboxindies.com. You say it helps me organize but there are no features to do that... right now it looks like you spent a couple hours with a template and then announced it to us.

I was hoping for more of an interaction with developers via podcasts and i would also like to have a direct interaction with the developer before i released a review and information about the game.
As for the template, ive just been playing around with the site and once i get back from atlanta and actually interact with some developers I will be sure to add some upgrades. Right now im just Testing out servers, what i can really do, etc. so if you have any ideas please feel free to say something and I'll be sure to do it.
Edit: Im not advertising, im looking for people to work with and ideas for how YOU as a community want to make this site.

My apologies, I didn't read your post closely enough... most people who post 'look at my site' in here are after page views rather than help.

Thats fine. If you have any ideas PLEASE let me know. This is supposed to be for you guys. This isn't a site that is going to be run by an eye in the sky group. This is a communal effort!

There's been a couple attempts at getting that kind of community effort before and they haven't come to much fruition. And there's a lot of review/developer interview sites out there already what is your site going to bring/do differently to stand out? Have you looked at the other sites to know who else is out there? Just kind of curious what you're hoping to bring.
As someone who loves this community I'm all for more buzz, excitement and more sites about XNA and XBox LIVE Indie Games but I also like sites that have staying power. How is your site going to stick around? What plans do you have to make it work as a community contribution site (when others have failed)?

George Clingerman:XNA and XBox LIVE Indie Games
Nice covering your tracks, I didn't know these were dynamic quotes. Ha
What is this? What is this?!?! For shame, I wish I was you...... ;) Why are you so awesome. I still say Community Games and you in your amazing awesomeness have completely switched your brain in such a short time to ALWAYS say XBox LIVE Indie Games. Someday I will be just a glimmer of you and I will be satisfied.
[Edit by Mod George W. Clingerman: I fixed some spelling errors in your post. That's all ;) ]

Yeah I seem to be mistyping a whole lot lately. ha

Welcome to the review community! Your site needs a little work, though. Reading black text against a green background is hard enough, but you should also make the column of text narrower (it's much more straining to read websites where paragraphs go all the way across).

Site has new theme. If you have any color or theme ideas you can send me the hex# colors and ill try it out. As for the bright green it was something I was trying.
Edit: sorry i have 2 profiles this is my second.

Better, but the grey is too dark, hard to read the light blue. Try the lighter grey that's on this site.

Comm, try using a color wheel to pick complementary colors.

As news of the free tokens spreads, I expect a ton of new review blogs to rise up by the hour.

I'd like to have a review done or even an interview but site presentation needs to be better. :)

Color scheme changed with the that color wheel thing. I have to say i am not that patient with matching colors. Let me know what you think www.communitycast360.com
As for the free tokens, if you see my Xbox profile SOG Otacon you will know that I really dont care If i pay for the games or not. It would just be a perk. (It would be up to the developer, I can pay for it myself)

Wow... emails are already coming in. I will put a schedule page on the site with interviews on it so people know when they come out.

The green is still too harsh IMO, but at least the text is readable and I'm not threatened to go blind. :)

Welcome aboard the unofficial review council. :) First, definitely make sure that you fix the typo in your sub-heading. I would agree that there are more reviewers out there than you may think, so have a look around and check out some of them. I'd say nickthedude has the most prominant video reviews and xnplay xblaratings and xboxindies all have different advantages/upside too. It's definitely good to spread the word best you can, and that's why I do it too - I'd say one particular challenge is to draw GAMERS, not just devs. Bring gamers to your site, and people will want to talk to you.

For what it's worth, XboxIndies.com is not, nor do I intend for it to become, a review website. We plan to feature and highlight games we like, but we're not a review site. We're just a catalog, news feed, and a twitter account. :)

Gotcha, sorry about that. I guess I was lumping ratings/reviews/coverage into one big ball o' fun. :)

I think it's hypocritical that my post got deleted and this one hasn't. Mine was relevant to the thread and only contained the same kind of embedded link as this one.

My post will be the last in this thread on this discussion, but yours likely was deleted for advertising your game which costs money. My site and everything about it is completely free. I'm guessing one of the mods doesn't like you trying to sell your app around on these forums. Plus my site was mentioned a few times so my site was already in the discussion; you were simply advertising.
