What 3D modeling program are you using to export 3.1 fbx files?

    Hi,
I use milk shape 3D but since the 3.1 update the .fbx textures no longer work.
What program are you using at the moment to export working fbx or x files?

since MS3D can also export lots of different file types
I plan to import the MS3D export into another program that can create the new 3.1 fbx file type.

Unless you know a better way?

Any help would be most appreciated,
    Thank you,
    Luke.

I can confirm that maya (latest version) is exporting working fbx files just fine with 3.1.

Blender exported working fbx files also, but I've only tested them with 3.0.

    Thanks Dean!! ^_^

I decided to go with "Blender" and I got textured models now!!

One thing I will say Anyone else who had the same problem.
The latest version of blender (2.49a at the time this was written) does not have fbx support, (I think they forgot or something)
But I can confirm Blender v2.48 works with XNA 3.1 (it has fbx export)

Here is the download link to the old version 2.48 that you'll need
Link: DOWNLOAD (please note this is from the official Blender website so it should be safe)

    Thanks again, ^_^
    Luke.

I do not know what download package you where using but the latest Blender Download 2.49a includes the FBX scripts and they work fine. The scripts are located in the .blend directory under the scripts directory.
This is a program that I use alot of the time and in the last week have been exporting full textured models with animations using the fbx exporter.

Picking up an old thread here - searched the forums so I found this one... This is just for reference - if others might have the same problems with using the export script in Blender (I'm using 2.49a and it ain't there).

Anyway, first you need Python installed: http://www.python.org/download/

Then you need the fbx export script: http://www.triplebgames.com/export_fbx__for_xna.py

Save that py-script in your Blender script folder. I found my at C:\Documents and Settings\[me]\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\

Then restart Blender. Now you should have the Autodesk FBX option in the File/Export menu!

(Though I haven't been able to get it to function properly - the model is imported but there are some problems with colors coming through... I have a red die with black holes, and the whole die is just red.)
