How do you guys share your code with the rest of your team?

Hi guys, I was wondering how everyone is sharing his/her code with the rest of his/her team.

We aren't using any smart way to share code right now. We're simply rarring and sending them on msn/mail (how suckish is that :P )

sooo don't be shy, shoot :)

Right now I'm the only coder on my team. Simplification, ftw! :)

But on a more serious note, you'll want to look into source control. There are lots of threads on the subject already so I'll just refer you to a few other threads:

At work, PerForce is what we use.

    At home, I'm alone. :)

Heard Alien Brain (?) also work well.

SVN - it's great. It's a *proven* source control system, which is important for reliability and community documentation. And it has great GUI and command line clients.

If you're new to source control I'd avoid git, despite the fact you might get some arguments for it here.  It's wonderful for distributed projects but it'll confuse you more. And it doesn't have the same level of windows support.

SVN is proven, so it's reliable.
It has great GUIs. (Check out TortoiseSVN for windows.)
    It's easy to use.

Whatever you decide, please stop doing the RAR thing now! That's a killer. Spend a few hours coming up with a solution and your team will be happy.

Yeah I decided to start using XP-dev + TortoiseSVN. I already knew about TortoiseSVN but I don't have a server set up yet. So XP-dev was exactly what I was looking for. It works great

UberGeekGames showed me this great new way to share, modify, and restore pieces of the code. it' a program called tortoiseSVN that uses subversion client. it is very useful and great to use if you have programmers in different states or countries typing the same coding.
got a new website come check it out http://www.gwagames.com/

My PC runs a copy of VisualSVN Server. Even my projects which are run by me and me alone, on my machine alone, where nobody else is likely to see it are under source control :)

AlienBrain is a bag of ***, i have to work with perforce and AlienBrain and perforce wins everytime. AlienBrain is nice when you are not a programmer but as a programmer you want better and more control over the stuff thats in a VCS.

At home I use googlecode with SVN as perforce is really expensive

This guy is right. I agree with everything he says. SVN is what some of the major game development companies use internally to share and update code. Blizzard has their own Custom SVN, but SVN nonetheless.

Well, I'm only really sharing the code with myself at school/home, but I just use Dropbox. It's awesome. Has support for un-deleting files, and viewing previous versions for 30 days in case you want to revert a change, as well as automatic uploading/downloading the changed versions of files whenever they're updated.
