Free & Good 3D models advices

    Hello everybody !

Well, you may wonder why I made this post. In fact, I just came to the conclusion that everybody's not a great artist. Of course, you can learn, but you'd like to continue your work the while you're learning.
Turboquid (www.turbosquid.com) is, from my point of view, the best site to find excellent 3D models. Even if you don't have a lot of money, you can still access a great number of good quality models.
However, as your game's building, you realize at some point, that some of the models can't be found there for free. Its not criticism, just an observation. I understand artists want something back for their hard work.
As a result, I'd like everybody here (willing) to update a list of other good websites in which one can find good quality 3D models.
For instance, I "googled" a bit (or "bing-ed" if you like) and found some sites, however, it's not always easy to seperate good sites from others. Thus, I think it could save a bunch of time to lots of people.

Lists (updated after discussion on the thread):

    Good :
    * www.turbosquid.com (very good to me, check the license)
    * www.sharecg.com (very good, "Unrestricted use" button on the search tool)
    * sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse (from very poor to very good, need Google Sketchup to export to .X files, check the license)
    * http://archive3d.net/ (quite good models from what I saw, the license is nice also, see my post below to check this license)

    Not good :
    * www.modelfree.com (not as good as I first thought, very hard to find out whether a model can be used for commercial use, and sometimes impossible  : when there's doubts, avoiding's better because it's your own risk)

So, guys, what are your suggestions ?

Yeah, you're right, thanks Integralking, I forgot to make this quotation. But I guess anyone getting to free model sites should search for that kind of indications before any downloading.
Again, anyone having a suggestion is welcomed.

    ShareCG

I've found more usable stuff on ShareCG than any other site.  The search page has a tick box for 'Unrestricted use' so look out for that.  A lot of the stuff will not be usable in your apps, however satisfy yourself that the 'Unrestricted use' items are.

    Google SketchUp 3D warehouse

In another thread I was directed to Google SketchUp 3D warehouse.  There is a vast selection of interesting models available.  The quality ranges from very poor to very good.  Unfortunately the usage information is vague.  Each artist is responsible for protecting their own intellectual property so you have to check the terms of use on each model separately after you have downloaded and even then many artists are lax with providing any guidance!

You need an add-in to Google Sketchup to export to .X files.

I found a new interesting website. archive3d.net Here is a quotation of what you must agree to download a model from there. It was quoted today, November the 13th 2009, and I do not know, if it will change or when.

    Archive3d.net:
By downloading 3D model you are agree with:

    1. This 3D model is provided "as is", entirely at your own risk.
    2. Archive3D.net doesn't accept any claims regarding quality of 3D model or any standards conformity.
    3. This model may be used in any commercial way only if it is a part of artwork or project. Single reselling or redistribution of this model is prohibited.
    4. This model may be freely modificated or elaborated.

Remark: The models are provided in *.3DS and *.GSM formats. The basic ways of use are 3D Visualisation, Interior Design, Architectural Visualisation, Landscape Design, 3D Animation and 3D Art.
