    canadians eligible?

I was reading 2009' eligibility and it says quebec, canada are not eligible so does that mean just quebec or all of canada because that doesn't make sense to post quebec seperatly if all of canada isnt eligible? I really want to enter but Im a canadian are canadians eligible?

    Re: canadians eligible?

It means Quebec. They have some very different rules for competitions so many simply exclude them see http://contests.about.com/od/sweepstakes101/f/VoidinQuebec.htm, http://www.free-news-release.com/The-burning-issue-of-Quebec-s-exclusion-from-North-American-contests--Detail_1302.html

There have been finalists and winners (Blazing Birds) from other parts of Canada in previous years.

Of course previous years don't mean anything, laws can change.

Just so you know, the contest ended a couple months back. Unless you mean you're finding help on the potential of a contest next year (which seems pretty likely but hasn't been announced).

If you make a game worthy of winning a DBP competition then you can put itn in XBLIG too... and well done for starting early

ya also if I can get a definite team together early on gives me more opportunity to improve on my coding skills because I know at my current level I wouldnt win at least not alone but ya gonna post this at the local high schools also will start thinking of some algorithms and your right even if we don't win if we have an original game we can sell it on market place.... on average how much do people make from a popular game on marketplace? like how much is the kodu game lab dude making? any general estimates?

    Re: canadians eligible?

Well Kodu is made by Microsoft so nobody knows.

My little game Pixel Man made me about $1,000 so far (it's been out almost a month) and I've been selling about 10-30 units a day (which, at $1 a piece, is about $5.60-$20.39 per day after Microsoft's cut). The really popular games I'm sure are doing better (and some of the top guys are making enough to live on) but it does take a really good game to get up (and stay up) on those popularity and sales lists. Remember that there are over 500 games on the Marketplace now and the number making lots of money is pretty small by comparison.
