    Looking to recruit a team

My name is John Kelly, I own Sea Cow Games.  I released one game, a sailing sim, back in 2002.  You can download the demo here...Offshore Sailing Demo .  Quickly, it is a multiplayer game written in C++ for Windows.  Now I am looking to write another game for PC, or XBLA.

I have nearly 20 years professional programming experience, and have been making video games on my own for many years.
If you care to see an in depth blog, go here... my background

What I am running up against now is this:  As a stand alone programmer, I can continue on my own making a game that less then 200 people will buy (as evidence by my sailing game), but over 250,000 people downloaded the demo for.  That figure of 250k, btw, was when I bothered to care to count back in 2004.  The sailing game didn't allow me to parley that experience into self funding and working full time on a game, so for the past few years I have only played around with proof of concepts, game design docs, small demos, etc.  Things you would expect someone with a full time day job, and limited free time, and more importantly, limited will power to work on anything after seeing how fast the industry has advanced in the past 7 years.  And realizing it is impossible to make anything worthwhile on my own.

What is the game I am looking to make?  That is yet to be determined.  However, it will be something small in scope, since I am looking only for 4 other people.  I need two 3D artists, familiar with 3DS MAX, and 2 programmers, familiar with XNA and Direct X.  The team will decide which game to make.  Each of you will want to take the idea, and run with it on your own...and at the same time, not want to create the game with anyone other then this team.  That is the cohesion I am looking for, and that is the desire I am looking for in you.

Don't be fooled into thinking a small team cannot create something commercially successful.  Yes, it is back breaking work, yes there will be weekends and evenings when the last thing you will want to look at is a monitor.  I won't lie to you.  One important note:  you will need to trust in me as the leader of the project.  This industry is filled with hotshots and egos.  The more, the merrier...but in the end, I call the shots.  Your opinions will count, your opinions are necessary, but my experience will count, and my experience is necessary.

If you are interested, please drop me a line at seacowgames at cox dot net.  I look forward to hearing from you!
