XNA Creators Club College Trial: Gone?

    Hi guys,

I discovered about a week ago that I could get a trial membership for the XNA Creators Club through my school (through MSDN Academic Alliance). Though I wanted to get it and start experimenting with XNA Game Studio, I had a lot of work to do and I thought it was better to wait a couple of days. So this evening I checked MSDNAA again and instead of a free 12-month trial membership I can only download XNA Game Studio 3.1. I asked other guys in my school and they can't get it either (not that they what it is anyway). I checked it multiple times so I am absolutely sure as was able to get it a couple of days ago. So has anyone of you noticed this aswell? Has Microsoft stopped offering the trial? Did I miss my shot at being able to deploy my games on the 360? Just for the record, I only wanted to do this for fun as a hobbyist. Paying up 100$ is a little too much for something I just want to fiddle around with and don't expect to gain any money with.

Oh, and I attend school in Belgium.

    Thanks.

You need to talk to whoever is in charge of the program at your school. No one here is going to know what's going on at your school.

As Jim says MSDNAA is adminstered by your school so we cant help there. I've not heard that MSDNAA has dropped XNA trial codes - you would be the first to report this.

However you might be eligible for DreamSpark  https://www.dreamspark.com/ even if your MSDNAA isn't working

I can confirm that my school still offers the 12 month trial through the Academic Alliance.  Probably doesn't help you much, but at least you know it isn't a global disappearance of the membership option.

Thanks for the quick answers. Ofcourse I know you guys can't help me out directly, I just wanted to know I any of you had experienced this before and, if so, what you did about it. Looks like I ran out of luck. My school doesn't appear when verifying at dreamspark (my previous school does, too bad my eMail adress expired a month ago). Now that Eckish has said it probably wasn't a global issue I'm pretty sure it's never going to come back. Guess I'll just have to persist on trying to make games for windows with XNA until I can afford the premium membership ;) .

Actually, I would take my post to mean that the problem is local to your site.  So, you should approach the folks in charge of IT or the MSDN AA at your school, like the previous posters suggested.  Because, it is likely that it is a problem and not an intentional removal.

I hope this is not considered as shameless bumping of my own thread. If it is, my apologies. I just wanted to say that this evening the academic subscription was available again on MSDN Academic Alliance. So if anyone has the same problem (which I admit is highly unlikely, especially because the cause is still unknown), don't panic, it might just be temporary.
