XSI Mod Tool and Vista x64

Are there any known compatibility issues between XSI Mod Tool and Vista x64?

I installed XSI Mod Tool this afternoon to try it out, but whenever I start it, it gets past the splash screen and starts to display the GUI, but then freezes.  I can see the top menu and a few features on the bottom of the window, but the rest is just gray and the process seems hung.  I've let it sit for ~ 5 minutes at a time just to make sure its not doing some first-time setup work, but it never finishes starting up.

A search on the internet led me to solutions that all involved disabling firewall and antivirus software, though the problem still occurs for me when I disable my firewall and anti-virus.

    Any ideas?

I have both the commerical version of XSI and the mod tool running under Vista x64. Possibly a video driver issue?

I'm running the 8800GTX as well... my version of drivers: 169.12... dunno if that helps.

Ah, so you're running the beta drivers.  I installed those, same problem.  The xsi.exe process just sits there at 0% CPU usage, with an ever-increasing memory footprint.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

No problem, sorry that it didn't help. Mine takes about 25 to 30 seconds to load and uses up about 144mb once it's loaded. Could it be a network thing (maybe its trying to go out on the net and if you aren't connected it may be timing out - just shooting in the dark now)? Anyway, what about this thread, near the bottom it talks about Zonealarm being a problem...

I always have an internet connection available, and I don't have ZoneAlarm installed.  Disabling Windows Firewall and NOD32 antivirus don't help either.

Is there a log file anywhere for XSI?

Using Process Monitor I was able to find a log file being produced by the XSI process.

    Dec 07 14:40:49 2007
.20: raylib[3772] MSG  fatal: connection to master broken. goodbye.
    Dec 07 14:40:50 2007
.20: raylib[3772] MSG  fatal: ReleaseSemaphore failed - The handle is invalid.
    Dec 07 14:40:51 2007
.20: raylib[3772] MSG  fatal: ReleaseSemaphore failed - The handle is invalid.

After that first "connection to master broken" error, it just repeatedly writes the ReleaseSemaphore error message.  They're all one second apart.

I'm guessing the first error has something to do with not being able to make a network connection, though it occurs whether my firewall is on or off.

Did you ever get it to work?  I'm having a similar problem, but I never get past the splash screen, memory footprint keeps getting bigger, but CPU usage is 48-50%.

    And what is process monitor?
