Source Required - Error During 2.0 Install

    Source Required - Error During 2.0 Install

    I just uninstalled the 2.0 beta, and tried installing the 2.0 release and got this error when it was installing the Games For Windows LIVE redist:

    Setup has detected that the original source is necessary to continue. Please redownload and execute XNAGS20_Setup.exe


    So I redownloaded the installer and tried again. Still the same error. Any ideas or suggestions? I'll give it another shot after work I suppose.

    I got that too.  I uninstalled Games for Windows Live redist and the project 2.0(beta) updater thing; rebooted and it let me install.

    I have the same problem, redownloaded the installer and try on two different machine( XP with chinese language), but still not work. I'm sure i've uninstalled the beta version  :(

    Gotta love the MSI. Did you possibly delete the beta installer? I have found too often that if you delete even just some "left-over" components of an installation, you may not even be able to uninstall correctly. Try redownloading and reinstalling the beta, uninstalling it, then installing 2.0.

    I get the same error. 

    Just some specs, in case it helps...
    I did install Beta and uninstalled it
    Vista home premium, 32bit.
    Visual Studio 2k5 (not express)

    I haven't tried yet, but I do know that un-installing the beta does not un-install the Project Upgrade wizard. Maybe you still have that floating around and it's causing a problem?

    I can also confirm that uninstalling my current games for windows live redist did the trick

    I can't find any reference to windows live redist, either in my start menu or in my uninstall programs window.  Did you manually delete this?

    Never mind, I am blind I guess.

    That fixed it, installing happily now.  Oh look, Game Studio Connect is there too. Time for some fun.

    Me2. Didn't have to reinstall just remove Games for windows live.

    Wow, I think Vista installed faster than GSE2.0....I'm currently 15 minutes into it, and at 35%

    ...and the grand total is 24 minutes.

    On my computer, it took about 3-5 mins if that.  On my laptop, it took a long time.  Both are higher end machines...guess the harddrive is slow in the laptop.  Oh well, its worth it.

    Hmmm, the long install for me was also on the laptop, but it has a 7200rpm drive, and it is also fairly high-end.
