    cvxporter - Maya 8.5+ x file exporter

    Hi there!
I've updated my Maya x file exporter with many bug fixes and optimizations.  It's been converted to Python and comes with full source.  Give it a go and see how you like it.

Is this just an exporter or does it work with the XNA content pipeline?

It's just a Maya exporter, but you should be able to use the x files in the Content Pipeline.

The exporter is just written in Python.  The x files are independent from the language so you can use them with directx, xna, etc...

Re: cvxporter - Maya 8.5+ x file exporter

    hi

i have used cvxporter with Maya 8.5 to convert skinned animation to .X format successfully.

But the problem is, it can't be opened in directX viewer...

So can anyone please tell me
    Either
How to convert skinned animation into DirectX viewer readable .X format

    Or

How to convert cvxporter converted file into directX Viewer readable format please?

any of your advice will be higly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    hi..
I would like to know the results of the above testing coz my models also dont show in the DX model viewer.. but that didnt really phase me, coz neither did the models from the book im reading haha.  but i'd still like to know, coz the models load fine in my game.

I've found that the different versions of the dx viewer will behave differently.  I did all my testing in the August 2007 viewer and all the models worked with animation and all.  What version of the viewer are you using?

Hey Chad, not sure if you frequent this forum any more or not but I'll try. I am part of a student game team at the Art Institute of Vancouver and the programmers of the group are writing a custom D3D engine. Naturally we were planning on using .x files and your exporter is perfect for us. My question is, do you know where to find a decent tutorial on the build process for a skinned animated mesh? I'm trying to finalize all of the details of our build pipeline and this is one detail I need to finish. I appreciate any help you can give, thanks
