Surfaces were pretty primitive even by the time DirectDraw was taken out of focus and Direct3D stepped in. Any game that performs any special blending is doing it all manually, or it was actually using Direct3D7 instead.
PIX(?) and DirectDraw Analysis

I've never used DirectDraw before, so please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject.
I have a program that I didn't write, so I obviously don't have the source code. Looking at the image files loaded by the program, I can't figure out exactly how the color blending is being done in this program.

My first thought was to try loading it into PIX- but this doesn't seem to be working. Either PIX doesn't support the old DirectDraw (this program was made many years ago) or this program makes DDraw function calls so badly so as to prevent PIX from functioning. Either way, I can't get a frame analysis out of PIX. (Is PIX supposed to work on the old DirectDraw?)

So is there some other way that I can analyse the color blending being performed on these images used by the program?
