Help, texture problems (very simple problem though)

Hi, I have created a plane in 3ds max 2009 with a concrete material which is my custom jpg.  I have set the map as the diffuse material set to 100%.

I exported the model as "floor.FBX".   I added the model into my project Models folder, and have added the concrete texture into the texture file.  I have looked into the fbx ascii code and have changed the material relative file name to "..\textures\concrete.jpg" (but have tried it in many other ways).

I cant seem to get the material to show up on the model?  I have taken a look at the p1_wedge.fbx and cant see much difference in the directory part.

Is it my modelling techniques?  I heard something abount UVW textureing, but I have noooooo idea how to even do this.

We don't even know if this is a modeling, importing and coding error.

Does the importer complain about the texture name? In general, you don't need to edit the files, because the texture paths will be found on import, and the texture used.

If you export to .X, and import that .X file, do you still have the same problem?

I have found similar issues as that, it doesn't list this anywhere but I found that by placing the texture in the texture folder, as well as in the models folder it loads it up. A bit weird and I am  not sure why this does that but it told me in a build error that it needed the texture in both places. Also you can make multiple textures and place them as one texture in a texturing program and use them properly with a map. You shouldn't put a textured object in any game unless that object has a map on it, and you can do this by creating the object, apply the texture and then hit the modifiiers tab and scroll down to UVW Map. Then apply usually the box map works for most shapes and it covers it succesfully.
