How to detect and use a folder's name at runtime - is it possible?

I'm wanting to basically (within my program at runtime) search for all folders within a specified location, then retrieve and store their names as strings within my game while it's running. I'd also need this to be able to work on the Xbox 360 and not just for the PC.

Is such possible? I appreciate any help one can give.

Thanks for the simple yet very helpful answers, Nick.

I can now easily add content to my game at later times by simply adding folders and files to certain directories (I plan to design my game as a shell, using content found in these "packs", you could call them; which can now be acknowledged as being there even if not shipped with the game - thanks to those methods you mentioned).
