    Fail to run XNA game on fresh installed XP machine

        Hello

    I am trying to run XNA games on a fresh installed machine and it just doesnt seem to work.

    So far i installed,
    DirectX9C April 2007 Redist
    .NET Framework 2.0
    XNA 2 RUNTIME

    After that i installed
    VC++ 2005 SP1 Redist
    Windows Installer 3.1
    .NET2 SP1

    and i still crash when i run it.......

    I tried 2 games so far.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    What version of XNA were the games written for? That could be the problem. Read through this FAQ and make sure you've done all the steps. Definitely make sure you run the web installer for DirectX since that's a common problem.

    Installing Redists MAY get things to work but only once you get the right combination. In addition its totally unsuitable as a requirement because it will fill your your test/friends machine with lots of developer stuff they do not need.

    The correct way to get DirectX on your machine for XNA is to use the Web Installer as detailed in the FAQ.

    The downloadable redists (and the one included in every SDK) are the offline version of the Web Installer (WI) containing all previous and current versions. But, because it is quite large, it is mostly used to put onto the distribution medium. The WI, on the other hand, will download and install only the missing runtimes, which makes the WI preferred version for online distribution.
