Where have my vertex colours gone?

    Where have my vertex colours gone?


    I've jusr discovered Mod Tool and it looks great. Both the app itself and the video tutorials are great.

    As a quick test I've created a basic shape (A cone with the top point pushed down, a bit like a volcano), and then chose colours for the verticies. The end result is a bit psychedelic but it'll do as a quick test.

    Anyway getting to the point, when I display the object in my game world its just grey. i.e. non of the colours I chose the verticies are shown.

    So, I opened up the .x file as text to see if the colour information is in there and its not. Sure enough if I reload the X file into Mod Tool its just grey again.

    Do X files not support vertex colouring? Or is it the Mod Tool X file exporter doesn't support vertex colouring? Or have I missed something?

    Our .X support currently does not support vertex colors, however you can try the Crosswalk pipeline, we provide a Crosswalk content importer which does support vertex colors.

    Ok thanks for the clarification.

    Out of itnerest, I presume the X file support does support textures?
    I've tried loading some models from the XNA samples (Such as the Asteroid from the space game tutorials) and it loads the model but untextured. I've checked the X file and it defiantely refers to the Texture file, although it uses a relative path... not sure if thats a problem?

    Mod Tool is a fantastic product BTW.
