Microsoft XNA Game Studio Express 1.0 Refresh

The official rules say that "You must use XNA Game Studio 2.0".

Can I also use XNA Game Studio Express 1.0 Refresh?

    :-)

    Beginner's question:

If I develop a Xbox 360 game with GSE 1.0 Refresh, will the .ccgame not run on every Xbox of a Creators Club Member?

They should be able to run it if they have the original XNA Game Launcher downloaded on their Xbox 360.

Why don't you just upgrade to 2.0? There is a project wizard that will upgrade your project if you want.

Probably I will be the last one in this forum that uses XNA 1.0 but my current project is based on some of the components of the platformer kit from GarageGames and the project wizard will not work for this kit. I know that someone described an upgrade procedure for this platformer kit but I'm not sure if it will work for my project.

Maybe it will save you some time and energy to start switching over now. Just ask around i'm sure someone on the forum will be able to help you upgrade the kit, but you'll be shooting yourself in the foot if you make a great game but can't enter it becuase you havn't upgraded to 2.0.

I realized that XNA GSE 1.0 AND 2.0 can run side by side in Visual C# Express.

    Should I uninstall XNA 1.0?

Thats up to you... occasionally I find an old 1.0 tutorial that I need to look at so its useful to have it there. I've got all 3 versions installed right now with no problems.
