We have replaced the Visual Studio Installer (.vsi) files with Microsoft Installer (.msi) installers for all of our starter kits. This should address many of the issues that have been reported, particularly with starter kits appearing in incorrect locations (such as a starter kit for XNA Game Studio 2.0 appearing in the New Project dialog in Visual Studio 2008). In addition, starter kits can now be uninstalled from the Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features dialogs in the Windows control panel.
All starter kits will now appear, as intended, in the New Project dialog for Visual Studio 2005 (Express, Professional, and the other levels) inside the Visual C#\XNA Game Studio 2.0 folder. Note that this will overwrite an existing template that was in the correct location, but it will not remove incorrectly-placed starter kits.
Aside from the installer technology, most of the starter kits have not changed since their last release. However, the Role-Playing Game starter kit has been updated with several bug fixes. Check out this post for more information.
