Starting a new Dev Diary about converting my DX7 game to XNA Game Studio

I've got an old DX7 game I want to move over to XNA Game Studio and I thought I'd share my thoughts and experiences.

    First post is here:http://the-agent.net/blog/?p=284

I'll post more as I start the process but I'd love any feedback you guys have about what you see so far. Leave comments here or on the post, whichever you like! I'll update at http://www.the-agent.net/blog. First step - getting my sprites drawing!

LOL, I love your Mario pitch conversation. That whole article was pretty good. And yep, I'm adding you as well. Thanks for letting us know about it and good luck on your conversion. That's going to be fun to watch. I ended up doing complete re-writes of all my DirectX projects, so it will be interesting to see if you run into the same problems I did and reach the same conclusion.

You're not going to spoil it and tell me the conclusion now?

I thought this was his conclusion:

Well, yeah, but I figured that was so he could add multithreading, Xbox LIVE and HDR effects.

    Right? :)

...I said it to myself on the blog - must maintain feature parity...rrrrrrgggh

LOL, no, I just discovered as I was trying to convert that the XNA framework was doing so much for me now that my entire structure just no longer made sense. My games became impossible to convert and it became faster to rewrite. I didn't even need some of my images because it was so much easier to flip and rotate in the XNA framework....

So yeah, it will be interesting to see how your conversion goes :)

Not for me. I can neither do a ping. www.the-agent.net doesn't respond...
