Community Games & XNA 2.0?

    Community Games & XNA 2.0?

So, I have been unable to find an answer for this:

I assume the currently accepted community games are using XNA 2.0 (since Xbox 360 isn't yet supported on the XNA 3.0 version).  Will we be able to use XNA 2.0 for final "released" versions of the Xbox Community Games or will we be required to use version 3.0?

If so, the XNA 2.0 EULA forbids you from using Xbox Live in a "commercial" game.  Since community games will be sold online (and thus are commercial) will a new EULA be provided that allows us to do this?

If we have to use version 3.0 -- is there any information about a new CTP that will include Xbox 360 support?

    Thanks!

I believe the initial release will support 2.0, because there's no other alternative. We don't have time to test anything for 3.0, because 3.0 rolls out right around the same time as Community Games. Going forward, I don't see other than Microsoft has to support something like at least the last two released versions, but we really don't know for sure. I believe 2.0 and 3.0 will both be supported in the near term, though.

I'm going on that assumption as well.  However, I assume that we will get a XNA 2.0.1 or something that will remove the Creator Club restriction and change the EULA so we can create networkable games (as the FAQ says we can).

    Hey guys,

I saw this and couldn't help but think of this thread (already going on today)

From what I'm now told - games that are being built to sell on when community games go live, must be built using Game Studio 3.0.

It would seem now that folks can either continue build and run using 2.0 and convert when 3.0 is officially released (with project support for xbox) when community games is released or develop/test on windows, using 3.0 CTP now - port later.

XBLCG will require XNA Game Studio 3.0. This was stated at Gamefest.

This and there will be an upgrade tool...as there was for 1.0 Refresh to 2.0, for 2.0 to 3.0. No biggie.

    Great.  :)

I was starting to think 3.0 was going to be required, but couldn't find anything official.  :)

    Thanks again!
