Changing the Title of Your Game

i am sorry if this is covered elsewhere but i tried the search and only came up with changing the title as it appears on the xbox game select screen. nothing about how it shows up in playtest/review or anything.

i needed to change the title of one of my games and fix a few bugs. i have done this now and want to try submitting again but after swapping the box art and the game file itself i did not see a spot to change the title of the game. i thought about deleting the game and restarting all over but it would not let me since it had been to review for some time. i then thought about just adding a new project but didnt want the old game to be holding up one of my 8 slots (not that im running out of space but still want it open for the future).

is there a way to do it that im just not seeing? the game information page seems to have everything there but the title

You can't. You need to create a new project and resubmit everything. Why would you need to change the title of your game?

it was a pong variation using the word "pong" which is potentially a legal issue.

its really dumb that you cannot change a title. that should be addressed. what if it was a simple typo that i had made? i see no reason that it should be kept permanent.
also i think that i should be given the option to delete projects if they had not passed review. i pulled it about half way to being approved. it was never finally approved so its not like it would hurt anyone if i got rid of it. it just doesnt make sense to me.

It'd completely by design that you cannot change the name and this will not change (no pun intended) any time soon. I don't buy that typo's are frequent enough to make that a requirement

i dont see the point to it. if it has not been released to the public it should be allowed to be edited in any sense. i should be able to delete it if i want to. i should be able to change a title. i just dont see how it benefits anyone to not allow these things. i guess its to deter people from making constant changes. but if its not for sale on the xbox yet it should be changeable.

If you remove it then its not taking up one of your slots -not sure why you think it will.

The game in question was submitted to peer review, correct? This means that you are as the publisher are saying the game is complete and that should include the name of the game

its been pulled from playtest and review. but i still cannot delete it. i just get this because it was in review at one time i suppose:
"Delete is only available if a game has not been submitted for Playtest or Release. If a game has ever been Approved, the project cannot be deleted."

and to the other point made. yes submitting for review is saying that i accept the title however after zman had pointed out to me that it would be a potential legal issue i obviously wanted to avoid this. i had assumed it would be ok because i had seen similar titles used in numerous other cases before. but he gave me a link to a game that was shut down for using it.

but whatever. ill just chalk that up as a learning experience and move on to other things. it was my first game on xna so there were bound to be issues. everything i do wrong now can be fixed in my future work

Is that really the error... that seems to say 2 things.. The 2nd part makes sense.. the game has to continue to be tracked once its approved. But the 1st part doesn't. I guess Pheel can confirm but it seems wrong to me. Maybe it takes a while after you pull it from playtest/review before the system allows you to remove it.

For now make a new one, as you said you are a long way from 8

Re: Changing the Title of Your Game

I didn't know that... thanks for correcting me.  I can understand appoved games -you have to continue to track sales etc even if the game gets pulled but what the logic with review/playtest games? Review history?

jhample: Looks like you are stuck for now. I wouldn't worry about your 8 game limit... nobody is even close to breaking it right now so worry about it later by which time it might be a non issue.
