    DBP Entry "The Real Invaders"

    This is the game I created for the DBP competition, now that I sow some of the great game committed to the contest, I know I have very little chance of win anything, but anyway, I had a lot of fun creating it and I learned a lot, after all, this is my first game in XNA and mi first program in C#, before I used VB.

    Video

    The video capture is somewhat slower that the game, I think my computer can’t handle that well the game plus the video capture, and the image is stretched, the game runs in a resolution of 1280x720 and in the conversion process it was stretched to a 4:3 format, maybe I will release the game for all the community to play, but I have to find a place to upload the project, it is a little big, 180 MB.

    Few constructive critisisms here as  I watch the video.

    1) Your logo animation is a bit on the long side. Maybe cut it down a hair
    2) I really like the intro animation sequence to tell that little story. Well done.
    3) Animating the instructions like that is, frankly, annoying. You should just have all the things on that page static. Much easier and much nicer.

    The game itself looks pretty solid. Maybe try prettying up the graphics a tad and let a demo out. And why is the file so big? 180 MB seems pretty large for what was in the video.

    Thanks for the comments, it’s a shame that the video is so slow, my intro is not that long, I will try to make a better quality video, as for the instructions thanks for the advice.

    In the game size problem, I blame the music and the 3D models, the distribution is more or less as follows:

    62 % music and sounds

    33 % 3D models (FBX are large files)

    5 % rest of the game

    Any suggestion to reduce the size?, XACT only takes wav files, as for the models, I will see if I can use X files.

    I agree with Nick's comments completely.  I'd love to have a demo to try.  Have you looked at hosting it on Game Projects?
