Dumb question on submitting a game

Ok, I want to get ready to submit my game.

On the Dream Build Play site it says the following regarding submitting the game file:

    b) The .ccgame package for your game in a playable ZIP file. Max install file size:
200MB. Do not submit your source code!

This means to compress the entire Release folder (../YourGame/bin/XBOX 360/Release/) which includes the .ccgame, .exe, the 'Content' folder, and a couple .dll and .pdb files into one big .zip correct?

Or would it happen to mean to convert just the .ccgame into a .zip?

Dumb yes, but I just want to make sure.

My take on it is that you make your ccgame, your trailer, your screenshots, and your description file, put them all into a zip, and send the zip.  You don't need to include any dlls or whatnot, because the ccgame includes everything the game needs to play.

Re: Dumb question on submitting a game

I've never tried opening a .ccgame file.  I thought I needed to include the 'Content' folder for all my models and textures.  If the .ccgame already contains all my game content then that's alright with me.  If I can get more confirmation on this I'd definitely feel more assured.

Another problem: I try loading my .zip and it I get an error:

    * invalid - must be a zip file (.zip)

I also just tried uploading a picture in a .zip and it still gave me the same error.

Has anyone been able to load up the install file?

    Try again later?

    ^bump

After reading the official rules again, looks like it's just the .ccgame and your "game synopsis": cool

However, I'm still having trouble loading the .zip file.  I keep getting the same error.  Has anyone else been able to load up the .zip file?

I'm also trying to submit my game. It does not accept the .ccgame, I get the "invalid" error. I have tried to zip the .ccgame and upload the zip file, same error :(

    Help, please.

Re: Dumb question on submitting a game

I was able to get around it by submitting it on a different computer (different network).  I really don't know why it wasn't working.

Worst case, you can also send an email to the DreamBuildPlay support.  They told me to send a test .zip and it worked that way too.

EDIT: Also try submitting something small in the .zip file instead of the entire large .ccgame.  For example, just try submitting your "game synopsis" (the 3 screenshots and game description) to make the upload tests faster.

I had to switch to IE to get it to work (Chrome is my usual browser).  I'm glad the DBP entry stuff is saved as you go along :)
