    Autumn Dynasty

    Hi everyone! :)

Here's a trailer for our game, Autumn Dynasty, an oriental-style ink-brush RTS, made as a student hobby project.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fUlFsyuaCk

We got started a little late (compared to the awesomely polished stuff in this competition! :) ), so this represents just two months of part time work.

Things are currently multiplayer only (either splitscreen or network)-- but single player AI will be arriving real soon! We appreciate the difficulties of playing strategy games using a controller, but it's actually quite easy once you get the hang of it. It plays much, much better on our (school-built) multitouch table however, and it would be really, really nice we could gain access to a microsoft surface SDK! *hint*

    The video looks very good.

Have you got any footage where the screen doesnt have back around the sides?

Wow, if your game programming skills are anything like your video editing skills, that will be an awesome game! How close to releasing it on Indie Games are you?

Yeah! That vid (esp. together with the music) gives you the creeps! Very nice art style and very monolithic!

In the vid, it says "the brush is my weapon" and you see the player giving commands with the brush. But apart from the fact that the commands are "drawn" on the game board, are there any other differences towards a normal mouse pointer? If you want to strengthen the brush-aspect you could consider allowing the player to "draw" fortifications or sth. (don't know whether that would go together with the remaining gameplay though)...

And another question: Is this a students project? I don't know why I have that impression, probably due to the touchscreen feature. :)
I think your game would be especially nice for the Zune HD, did you develop the touchscreen functionality with respect to that platform?

    Hi Gooni,

Autumn started as a student project, but most of the team members have graduated. Our producer is still an undergrad tho :D
We would really love to deploy it on the Zune HD, but it is not available in singapore yet. There is a demo for Windows phone out now, you can follow this project at www.touchdimensions.com

You could always import a Zune HD thats what a few of my friends on XBL have done, though you will NOT be able to use the Tegra chip as a SDK has yet to be release, but im not sure if you would need to use the Tegra or not.

Nice game. I would love to play this, and the touch table thing looks really intense. The only flaw I see is that it may run into the old RTS-on-a-console control issue. I would definitely get this on PC though.

I really hate to say this here, as Microsoft has been so kind as to open game development up to poor folks like myself, but that game is screaming WII.  I couldnt bring myself not to point this out to you as I'm always rooting for the little guys.

I think that this is an interesting idea. I didnt see any different unit types, are there different units you can control?

In one of their videos i did notice unit names popping up over the units and there was at least 2 different ones so I am imagining more.
