    PC/XBOX Connection

I have just purchased my premium membership and im pulling my hair out trying to get my pc and xbox connected.

My xbox and pc are both connecting to the internet via a wireless router.

I have tried to connect as per Microsofts instructions and here the messages I get:

Initiated search on the local subnet for your Xbox 360 using the connection key you typed.

Found l at IP address 192.168.0.4.

    Session created.

Connecting to l at IP address 192.168.0.4:1002...

An internal network error occurred trying to reach host l. Make sure that l is connected on your local subnet and waiting for a connection.

And on the xbox in XNA Game Studio Connect it says:

Timeout while accepting connection from 192.168.0.2

Can anyone help with this at all?

Connecting via wireless has been known to cause issues for some folks.  Trying using cables for both the PC and Xbox to verify that it works.  Then go from there.

Plug one cable into a router and your PC and another cable into the router and your 360. Make sure the cable modem is plugged into the router as well.

I have done this and when i test the connection ot says:

"Theres a problem with your connection. Select More Info for a description of the problem and how you can fix it"

"Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem"

    Hi there,

which piece of equipment is showing this error? I'm running my XBox & laptop over wireless and have had no problems. Have you used your XBox online before (so you know your connection works)?

DHCP servers on routers usually pass out the IP addresses.

Does your router have a DHCP server enabled?

[EDIT] Sorry - I should ask if your router has a DHCP server enabled by default.  Does the manual say anything about this?

    Re: PC/XBOX Connection

    So far, so good.

If the Xbox is connecting to the internet through the router, that means that the Xbox is connecting to the router, getting an IP address from the DHCP server, and the router can forward packets to the Xbox at its assigned IP address.

Can your PC connect to the internet through the router?

Problem solved after everything it was just my firewall blocking it. I did disable my firewall as a test and it wasn't working but i got frustrated and uninstalled the firewall and it connected first time. Thanks for all the help anyway really appreciate it.
