VS2005 Required is there no help for me?

I am a cs student and my cs497 project requires visual studio 2005 which we get fromt eh academic alliance. Is there no way to use XNA express?

    Our project uses the following:
    VB.net 2005
    SQL Server 2005 Developer edition
    .NET 3.0

None of this software can be uninstalled as the configuration has been configured for the project which will not be finished till April.

I was hoping that c# express could be installed side by side or XNA could be installed with VS2005 but that does not seem to be possible, what other options are there?

See here for info on using XNA with VS2005: http://forums.xna.com/thread/7263.aspx. The jist is not really in version 1.0. Version 2.0 out later this year will be able to integrate into any version of Visual Studio.

However, I was under the impression you can install VC# Express and XNA GSE next to a standard install of Visual Studio so there shouldn't be any problem with installing it.

C# express will happily install side by side with any version of VS 2005 or VB Express - I'm running that way right now.

GSE does require c# express to install but it shouldn't be an issue for you.

Ok, I was just reading the install docs afor C# Express and it said that VS2005 and SQL server had to be uninstalled before installing is why I was worried. I will give it a shot and see where I get.

    Thanks

Before installing, you must uninstall any previous Beta, CTP or Tech Preview versionsof SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, and the .NET Framework 2.0.

    Not release versions. :)

I installed VC# and it installed into visual studio. XNA still says that it is not installed and the refresh patches that are required say they will not work with the version of the software or my OS(vista).

Anyone have any suggestions?  VC# expresss installer did complete with no errors. I hope I haven't done somethign horribly wrong and it can be corrected.

    Thanks in advance.

Follow these instructions http://forums.xna.com/thread/9928.aspx - you need all the right service packs before GSE will install. They are all linked from that FAQ.
