    XACT and 1 Channel Audio

I was walking through a tutorial on audio from here:

And found that when I add the wav file it would not play.  No errors were generated but the sound just didn't play.  I tried it in XACT itself using the Audition utility but even there it would not actually play, no errors but also no sound.

After some experimentation I found that I had to convert the files to 2channel sound in order to get them to play in either XACT or the game.

Is this a normal limitation of XACT or is it a problem particular to my machine?

It's not a normal limitation of XACT. From the description, not sure what it is though.
