Question about what to do with 1.0 and 2.0 beta when the Offical 2.0 comes out.

When 2.0 is out tomarrow, do we have to get rid of 1.0 and 2.0 beta or do we keep 1.0? In the beta it let's us pick from 1 or 2, so if we deleate 1.0 will we still have to have 1.0 to make 1.0 games (just a thought) in the xna gse 2.0 envoirment or will 2.0 also sopport 1.0 when we install it? I was just wondering so I can deleate what needs to be gone now, so I can download 2.0 befor going to school.

As you can tell I cant spell lol. *blams learning sopport classes*

I'm sorry I cant spell. My school never had spell check. *sob*

You can probably ditch 2.0 beta, but I would hold on to 1.0 for awhile, as there will be plenty of samples out there that are not yet converted, or never will be, that you may want to run someday without having to convert them. Especially because converting code that isn't yours can be tedious.

The 1.0 and 2.0 releases are side-by-side. If you want to be able to compile and/or run both 1.0 and 2.0 games, you should install them both. If you only want to use 2.0, you could save some disk space by uninstalling 1.0. It's up to you.

I don't see any reason to keep the 2.0 beta around, though. Technically it will still work if you have a copy installed, but I'm not sure if the beta can coexist side-by-side with the final 2.0 (I would guess not), plus the beta is no longer available for download, and beta games can no longer connect to Live.

Very true.  Would probably be more time efficient to just code it yourself. :)

I also agree that you should keep 1.0 around for awhile (if possible).  Uninstalling the 2.0 beta is probably a good idea, though, unless the installer updates the beta (it probably doesn't).

Edit: Whoops, Shawn posted while I was writing my post.  Just disregard the above. :)

I was looking for the answer to the same question (regarding the 2.0 beta) and found this in the readme.

"1.1.4. Uninstall Pre-released Versions of XNA Game Studio 2.0 Before Installing Final Release

You must uninstall any pre-released versions of XNA Game Studio 2.0 before installing the final release of XNA Game Studio 2.0."
