  • Re: Help drawing 2D topdown Buildings

Sim City is a bad example. On the SNES, arcade, PC Engine and Dream Cast are about a million top down shooters.

  • Re: Putting a model in world space

What are you trying to achieve? The model of the building being attached to the mouse cursor and rotation when the player rotates the camera, maybe switching between green and red color to signy if building on this tile is possible/impossible like in some strategy games? I would start with something simpler, I think Command & Conquer ...

  • Re: How do I use a SpriteFont?

I did. It's right between the two images I can display without trouble. Also, that obviously doesn't help at all when the project won't compile due to an error.

  • Re: How do I use a SpriteFont?

I still get this error: Unsupported type. Cannot find a ContentTypeWriter implementation for Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline.Graphics.FontDescription.    (has no line number, just the xml file) I think I should also note that I'm using XNA 3.0, but in the "Add New Item" dialog when right clicking ...

  • How do I use a SpriteFont?

The documentation on msdn only produces errors. The demo has 5 errors and won't run (it lacks a ton of things like proper references and the entire content) and documentation on the SpriteFont class is lacking crucial information and the example produces errors as well. Apparently at least one <CharacterRegion> with ...

  • Re: File not found?

Thanks for the quick answer, but I remembered that I have to add the files to the content in the project. I wanted to delete this topic, but since you can't I changed it to another problem that popped up right afterwards.

  • Please delete topic

I wanted to delete this topic and start a new one, but you can only edit topics. When I started editing it, no one had replied yet. I just took a while editing it and a reply was made in the meantime. I made a new topic about my current question.

  • Testing games on the 360?

I want to make a short 360 game, but I don't want to pay the 65 bucks to be able to connect my 360 to my PC (I'm short on cash and I live in Germany where there is no XBLA, so it's just to test if my game would actually run on a 360). I'm making the game as portfolio and try applying to companies that make C# games on 360 ...

  • How can I get an object size at runtime?

Kinda a general C# question mixed with some 360 concerns. I have a class (a play class  for my rpg) that has around 50 attributes (I'm making an rpg engine and it is supposed to be highly scalable). Among these 50 attributes there are a few lists that might hold several other objects. Now I'm only using it in a desktop ...

  • Re: Need suggestions on a game idea i have come up with

Sounds pretty nice. Optionally you could add growing livestock. Maybe include some sicknesses or pests that the player needs to look out for (best if he can prepare against it and/or fight it - the more efficient his methods, the quicker it will be over and the less livestock/harvest is lost. Likewise, you could have some more stellar ...
